Dr. Dean M. Nelson started studying with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1974 at Naropa Institute. He attended two 3-month seminaries with Rinpoche and took refuge and bodhisattva vows with Rinpoche in 1979. Dr. Nelson has started three centers. He has taught extensively at Shambhala Centers as well as to lay audiences at hospitals, churches and schools. He has been a meditation instructor since 1981 and a director of Shambhala Training since 1983. He is married and has a nine year old son.
